The City of Rovinj-Rovigno is twinned with the cities of Adria and Camaiore in Italy and Leonberg in Germany. The Agreement on Port Twinning has been signed with the Italian city of Pesaro, the end destination of the spring sailing regatta taking place for over three decades.
ADRIA (province of Rovigo) is an ancient little town in Italy, the Bishop’s seat and an important agricultural and trade centre. The Twinning Agreement was signed on 17 April 1982. Except for this form of collaboration, the city of Adria kept sending humanitarian aid (money and food) for exiled persons and refugees during the war in Croatia.
CAMAIORE (province of Lucca), a little town in the Italian region of Tuscany. The first signing of the Twinning Agreement took place on 20 January 1990 in the city of Camaiore, and reciprocally in Rovinj on 12 May 1990. Along with the inhabitants and authorities of Camaiore who delivered considerable quantities of food and clothing for the exiled persons and refugees staying in our city on countless occasions, we have also established the elementary school student exchange programme.
LEONBERG is a city in the Baden-Württenberg region in the south of Germany. The signing of the Twinning Agreement between Leonberg and Rovinj took place in Leonberg on 12 February 1990 and reciprocally in Rovinj on 25 August 1990. In addition to mutual visits and the organisation of “Days of Rovinj in Leonberg” and “Days of Leonberg in Rovinj” featuring sports and cultural events, the city of Leonberg has extended its aid to the exiled persons and refugees staying in our city through numerous and varied donations.
THE DOUZELAGE In the spring of 2016, Rovinj-Rovigno became a member of the European town twinning association – the Douzelage, as the only representative of the European Union. http://douzelage.eu/
